You probably did a deep spring clean on your house, but did you remember to clean your workstation as well? Don’t let another day go by without showing your tech some love and attention and deep cleaning your workstation. Here’s what you need to focus on:

Desktop Computer:

Before you start, make sure you’ve backed up your computer and turned it off. Take the cover off to expose the inside of your computer. Using a clean cloth and a can of compressed air, gently remove all of the dust, paying close attention to the intake fan, CPU, and GPU coolers. The more dust you remove the better, as dust causes your computer to operate warmer. With the dust gone, you’ll have better air flow and maximum cooling.

Cables:

Manually check your cables to make sure they are not tangled, damaged, or in a place where they could be potentially damaged. All cables should be in good working condition and connected firmly.

Keyboard & Mouse:

According to a study, keyboards are dirtier than a toilet seat. Pretty gross, right? Quickly deep clean your keyboard by carefully vacuuming it to remove loose particles. Disinfect your keyboard and mouse using a disinfectant wipe.

LCD Monitor:

To clean your LCD Monitor without damaging it, use a clean, lint-free cloth. Wipe with a dry cloth first. If that doesn’t get the job done, dampen the cloth with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol and carefully wipe the screen.

Don’t forget to clean your touch screen tablets and phones too!

Remember to never clean your equipment while it is turned on. Never use a soaking wet sponge, stick to a clean, damp cloth. Also, never dismantle equipment if you are unsure of how to put it back together.
