You should regularly audit your passwords because usernames and passwords represent the keys to the kingdom for malicious attackers. Criminals who know how to penetrate a company’s defenses can easily steal hundreds or even thousands of credentials at a time, each one representing another potentials entry point to compromise the organization’s networks and data.
76% of people will use the same passwords for most, if not all, websites.
Make sure your passwords are complex and lengthy and never use the same password for multiple accounts. We highly recommend that you change them regularly as well.
Here’s our tip to make a unique password:
- Make up a phrase, for example, ‘I can’t wait to go back to Florida for vacation in June 2020!’
- Then take the initials of each word with all numbers and symbols to create your password.
- Your password would be: ‘IcwtgbtFfviJ2020!’

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
“Held every October, National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) is a collaborative effort between government and industry to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and to ensure that all Americans have the resources they need to be safer and more secure online,” according to Homeland Security.
“NCSAM 2019 will emphasize personal accountability and stress the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity at home and in the workplace. This year’s overarching message – Own IT. Secure IT.
